6th. How does having almonds in a Hershey bar make it good for you?

yes i know 3 doesn't have anything to do with anything really i had to throw it in there to get the whole who what where when why how thing done.

I've spent most the day hanging out at the perky piranha downtown, its a bit on the hard to find side on the corner of chesnut and first in between the imax and the aquarium which is a good part of why i've never really been in before. It's a cool little place, quiet, laid back, tasty coffee, fun staff, all of these winning points in my mind. should hang out here more often.

i had to rewatch it this morning just so i knew what he was actually saying, i was laughing so hard the first time i watched i missed half of it. it was amazing.

Just as amazing although otherwise unrelated. The Dodgers have grabbed Joe Torre and given him a three year contract. you have no idea how happy this makes me. we haven't had a good manager since Lasorda and now we have "The winningest manager in postseason history" hurray for the dodgers! hurray for Joe Torre! hurray for us all!

First madeleine L'engle and now Robert Jordan. Jordan Died yesterday the 16th at 2:45 pm leaving the Wheel of Time series unfinished. This is up there with Herbert Dying before he finished book 7 of Dune. L'engle's passing was tragic but at least she didn't leave behind an unfinished 12 book series. they're saying that they may try and complete book 12 based on his notes but it just wouldn't be the same.

why do authors have to die? and if they do have to die why can't they finish writing their books first?

Alright, just got out of my interview at greenlife. looks like I got the job, the interview went really well. I should be getting a call sometime tomorrow to come and fill out the paperwork.

Also, everyone should listen to Josh Ritter. I've heard him on the radio a bit recently and decided to give him a closer listen. I really like what i've heard.

there have been a bunch of jimmy stewart movies on the tv recently, a cause for happiness if there's ever been one.

It's been ungodly warm and humid out the past couple of days, makes it hard for me to work up the gumption to get up and walk through st. elmo looking for jobs. when i go for a walk at night and come back covered in sweat, i have a hard time convincing myself to go out and walk while the sun is out. I am going out tomorrow, even if my ipod is on the fritz. its served me well up till now, i've had it for 2 years and no problems until the past week. it still plays music, the screen's just all messed up, some black splotches, blue blurs, and a rather odd rainbowy deal running through it all. on occasion i luck out and get to the music, but more often than not i get trapped in a settings menu pressing buttons to no avail. i'm sure it would be easy to get it fixed if i had the money. suppose i'll have to go back to the stone ages and get a cd player. we should have just stuck with cassette players, much sturdier than cd's and ipods.

... a moment of silence for my ipod if you would...

read a lot of books in the past several days maybe 8 in the past week (they were all pretty short and easy reads): the first four books in the rachel morgan series by kim harrison and the protector of the small series by Tamora Pierce. watched the first and second season of the office can't wait for the 3rd season to come out on dvd.

for any of you who didn't know, L.E. Modesitt, Jr.'s newest book in the saga of recluce series Natural Ordermage is due to come out sept 18th, very excited about that.

well, my movie's over, and before i get caught up in another one i should probably head to bed.

sitting out on my porch, my drop dead gorgeous porch. i don't think i can ever overstate just how fabulous this porch is.

its currently pouring outside, yet another thing Chattanooga has over LA, you can sit outside in a thunderstorm and not get wet, porches trump patios every day.

other than the porch and the rain this week has been pretty much crap, much like last week. my bank's putting me threw the wringer, some hold having to do with my social #, apparently they didn't believe i was a US citizen or some such nonsense. they wanted me to go into the bank where i opened my account to clear everything up, sadly that branch is a good 3000 miles away from where i'm currently dwelling, i worked it out with them so that i could go into the local branch and fix it up, which i did. but its still not working, my account is still frozen, i still can't access any of my funds. i'm going to try again tomorrow, see if i can figure out whats going wrong.

Noticed for the first time today that one of the busier streets in town has a horse crossing, it amuses me.
The last picture also amuses me, took it while i was visiting chattanooga. one of my old roommates decided to strip and climb a metal pole durring a rain storm one night, sadly i didn't think to take a picture till the end.

it was my birthday today, went to Ameoba, one of the few things i'll miss about LA when i finally ditch this joint. Got a few cd's (Uncle Tupelo, Whiskey Town, Son Volt, Golden Smog, and Ryan Adams), grabbed dinner at the olive garden (fettuccine alfredo, the grownups macaroni and cheese, yummy) met up with Rosa, grabbed some beer and watched the Evil Dead 2. good times.
Now I'm sitting at home watching the futurama marathon, a good end to the day.

Crappy day at work, but none of that matters anymore. I got home and a book was waiting for me, The Manuscript Found in Saragossa By Jan Potocki. I've heard some great things about this book and have been wanting to read it for quite some time now. If only I could get a book in the mail everyday.

I think the history channel is reusing interviews, they've been running all sorts of pirate shows this week thanks to the 3rd pirates movie coming out and I know I've seen some of these same interviews on different shows. Oh, I just heard something stupid, they're talking about medicine on the pirate ships specifically amputation, this guy said something about how hard amputations would have been to watch since there was no anesthesia to speak of... maybe its just me but I would think that the hardships of the audience would pale in comparison to the hardship of the person being operated on.
I complain but do I change the channel? of course not, well not for 5 minutes anyways when the daily show comes on. and then back to the history channel and then to comedy central to watch futurama, tomorrow I'll wake up and turn on the history channel again.

As long as I'm talking about television, comedy central has a new show coming out called "little bush" it looks oh so stupid. come on already Bush talks funny and does stupid things, we all know this let it go.

Once upon a time staying up till 5 in the morning would have bothered me, at least I think it must have, I can't really remember when that time was. my current theory is as long as I'm asleep before the sun starts to come up I'm ok, which is something I actually failed in last night, but you can't win them all. between messing around with the colours for this blog (i finally threw together a color scheme that doesn't instantly make me cringe, though I'm not sure about that light blue in the background), and flipping back and forth between the history channel and adult swim there was just no time to sleep. not that it really matters, I work 3:30pm till midnight, I'd be hard pressed to oversleep and be late for work.
heh, if by some miracle I did oversleep and was late for work they'd never even notice if it wasn't for that damned time machine, not the clock, the one below it where I swipe my card through. I don't actually do anything at work, I'm there for 8 hours, things I do that can actually be considered work take up maybe four hours, maybe, that's if I actually put my mind to it. an average day at work for me consists of a couple of hours walking around trying to look like I'm working, hanging outside in the smoking area chatting with the security guard, playing final fantasy on my gameboy, calling people on my cellphone, and just to keep things interesting I do actual work in between all this slacking. which I'd like to say isn't actually slacking on my part, I get all of my work done,there just isn't 8 hours worth of work for me to do each day.
First job I've had thats been like that, the aquarium kept me busy; at the various coffee shops there was always something I could be doing; the daycare... if I had even thought about taking my eyes off those kids for 5 seconds the world would most likely have ended; the kitchen, well I spent most of my time trying to hide from my crazy manager. I don't like it, at first I spent a lot of time worrying that somebody's going to figure out just how little I do there, then I realized that nobody else really does all that much work either that did soothe my troubled mind a bit. still, it gnaws at me, our dept just had our budget cut and my 90 day review is coming up which means that for another week or so they can lay me off without having a reason, so I'm getting worried again, but we persevere. Out of curiosity, are there any songs that put going to work in such a happy light as the one the seven dwarves sing? every song I can think of about work and going to work is rather negative, I guess if I owned a diamond mine I might be cheerful about going to work too.

Today at work i'll be playing final fantasy 6 all throughout the day, reading South of the Border, West of the Sun on my break. then comes my favorite part of the day my walk home with my ipod, I think today will be a Bowie day.

So...
there's this author: Martin Millar.
I've read one of his books The Good Fairies of New York and I loved it. Ever since I read it i've been sitting on amazon drooling over his other books which are just way to expensive (for example Dreams of Sex and Stagediving for $41.72 used, and Ruby and the Stoneage Diet for $50.52) since with the exception of the good faeries all of his books have been published in the uk and haven't found their way over to our shores as of yet. As it turns out Martin Millar has a new book coming out in june called Lonely Werewolf Girl, sadly it won't be published in the US either. I bought it anyways, I'm very very happy.
Long story short, read Martin Millar (any Neil Gaiman fans? you'll love this book), the Good Fairies is affordable on amazon, buy it, read it, love it, join me in the misery of waiting for his other books to be released in the US.

EDIT:: I spoke to soon, I was browsing amazon just now in a post work daze I came across Milk, Sulphate and Alby Starvation for a really good price and snagged it. so, two books affordable on amazon at the moment.
